The daily activities, shows and opening hours of restaurants and venues are available on the Royal Caribbean App as well as on the daily Cruise Compass. Additionally, there's an hour-by-hour schedule of everything happening on the ship, including live performances, children's programming and dining options. The Cruise Compass is Royal Caribbean's daily onboard newsletter, found on each ship.
Day 6 – Sea Day
Royal Caribbean provides a lot of programming for children and teenagers on their ship. Some events make it onto the regular Cruise Compass, but there are even more events listed in special daily planners just for the kids. Activities are broken down by time of day (morning, afternoon, evening) and provides a chronological list of events throughout the ship.

Each event has a time, title and location for quick reference. Some events are not repeated while other activities can change daily, so it is in your best interest to track what is happening so you do not miss any of it. Royal Caribbean packs a lot of things to do into each day and you are best served by reading it each evening to be aware of what is happening onboard. The app requires too much scrolling and searching to find the available activities at any given time. But, I don't want to have to carry my phone with me everywhere on the ship. Last month we asked our stateroom attendant for a paper copy and he delivered one to us each night. If RCI is going to do away with the paper copy, they need to do a better job on the app.
The Cruise Compass is easier to glance through, with a nice daily overview and tips. Also, on select ships, your Cruise Compass will be loaded onto the Royal Caribbean International App. This way you can plan your time onboard straight from your mobile device! On some Royal Caribbean ships, printed copies have not been automatically distributed to all guests. Some guests have reported the need to request a copy be delivered by their stateroom attendant, or go down to Guest Services for a copy.
Every evening, passengers receive the following day's newsletter in their staterooms. It does save the "green stuff" if you are referring to green cash for the executives and increase profit margins. This has nothing to do with being green for mother earth.
To find the digital Cruise Compass, scan the QR codes placed around the ship, like near the elevators and where paper copies were once available. It also has times for when places open, info on port visits, and any changes to plans. The Cruise Compass is key to making the most of your cruise, keeping you informed and ready for the day.

Our second-to-last sea day was also a formal night, with a “Dress to Impress” dress code in the Main Dining Room. On my recent Oasis cruise, there was no QR code paper in the room, but it was on the Compass TV channel and on screens all over the ship. Day 3 on, had a paper Compass in my room every night without asking. On our current cruise on Oasis, no amount of cajoling or reminding our attendant has produced consistent Cruise Compasses.
Think show times, restaurant opening times, when and where bingo will be played and what shops have sales. It also provides details about the amazing ports you’ll visit and so much more. It’s easy to pack into your bag or pocket so that you don’t skip a beat! Plan your cruise your way and enjoy everything your ship has to offer. The Cruise Compass is placed in your stateroom each evening for the following day.
On Day 3 onwards our cabin steward provided the Cruise Compass in our cabin each evening. We recently sailed on the Mariner of the Seas for a 2 Night Weekend Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida. The Daily Planner is Royal Caribbean’s daily activities schedule, and is delivered each night to your cabin during turn-down service as well as digitally on the Royal Caribbean App app. All the onboard activities for the following day will be listed, such as events, showtimes, drink specials, entertainment, and other things happening around the ship. On our recent Anthem cruise, Guest Services had sheets with the QR codes on the shelves where the paper compasses would normally be. I downloaded the first day's one but didn't bother after that because there was a paper one in our room on arrival and I asked our stateroom attendant to provide us with one every day.
With the Cruise Compass, you can easily plan your day. It lists everything happening on the ship, so you can pick what you like and make sure you don’t miss anything fun or important. I always check it the night before to plan my next day. Every Royal Caribbean passenger should grab the Cruise Compass. It’s a daily newsletter that tells you about the day’s activities, shows, dining spots, and important news.
Depending on the ship, there are also other ways to see activities, such as on a designated channel on the in-room television and/or via the wayfinders in the hallways. For years, the printed Cruise Compass was the only option, but Royal Caribbean's app has also offered a list of activities. On our most recent sailing on Wonder of the Seas in September 2023, the app performed well. It was still clumsy though to find certain bits of information. If you prefer a paper copy, simply speak to your Cabin Steward on the first day and and them to deliver a paper copy each day.
To download a copy, just look for the large QR codes located at strategic points around the ship. These are usually on the notice boards near the lifts. You’ll also see them on the racks where you used to be able to pick spare copies of the cruise compass. In the past, Royal Caribbean provided a paper copy of the Cruise Compass. This paper version would be delivered each evening to passengers’ staterooms, outlining the following day’s events. It helps passengers make the most of their time on the ship by providing a detailed schedule of all of the daily events and makes it easy for everyone to plan their days at sea.
By reading an old Cruise Compass, you can prepare yourself for activities and events that you might want to participate in, such as themed dance parties, sporting events and anything inbetween. Generally speaking, Royal Caribbean sailings on a particular ship do not change that much from week to week in terms of the activities or entertainment offered. There will be some discrepancies, but an old Cruise Compass can give you a good ballpark of expectations to plan around. Teenagers get their own planner too, specifically for kids that are years old.
